Let’s face it, during a recession you’re going to have to cut costs. Maybe you’ve figured out that one of the costs is to cut the landscaping crew and that means cutting your own grass. But even if you fire your landscaping crew that does the edging, grass cutting, and basic landscaping, this means you are going to have to buy the yard equipment to do the job yourself.

Yard equipment that is not cheap these days and could cost you a pretty penny. In fact, it might cost you the same as five or six months of paying your current gardener. A good solid lawnmower can easily run $500 and if you’re trying to cut costs in the middle of a recession that may be one expense you cannot afford or you shouldn’t afford. Perhaps, you should get a push lawnmower. And I know what you’re saying; “do they even make those anymore?”

The answer is yes they do, and during a recession you’d be surprised how popular they are. Now you might think you look silly out there pushing a push lawnmower, but you will lose weight, stay in shape and save quite a bit of money. You can buy a decent push lawnmower for about $65-$75.

The nicer ones run about 100 bucks, but that is still a lot less money than $500 for a gas powered mower. And if you buy a gas powered motor you still have to buy the gas to put in it, and what happens when gasoline goes back up to $5.50 a gallon? These are all things to consider when trying to save money in a recession. Please consider all this.
